The only existing industrial installation for the processing of oil sludge in Uzbekistan was put into operation at the Fergana Oil Refinery Plant

This will contribute to minimizing the negative impact on the environment and increase the economic sustainability of the enterprise.

The implemented technology makes it possible to dispose of oil sludge (oil waste) by dividing it into a liquid and solid phase, which is used in the production of value-added products, returned to the production of petroleum products, and technical water suitable for use in the enterprise's recycling water supply cycle.

Oil sludge is a residual product of crude oil processing, which is formed at the final stage of its processing into light and dark fractions. If earlier the enterprise disposed of it in accordance with the environmental standards of the Republic of Uzbekistan, today, thanks to the sludge processing plant, most of the product is split and sent back to the oil refining cycle. So, FORP received additional raw materials, which previously could not be used due to technological limitations.

In the process of installing the plant, FORP specialists actively involved international engineering companies. The technology was supplied by the Chinese corporation Hebei GN Solids Control Co., Ltd, which developed, manufactured and delivered to the industrial site of the Fergana Oil Refinery Plant - a mobile unit for processing various compositions of oil sludge.

As of March 30, the unit has run more than 180 hours since its launch. During this time, at least 450 cubic meters of oil sludge were processed.

“Over the past few years, the company has accumulated more than 10,000 cubic meters of oil sludge. The new unit allows separating oil residues, thereby reducing the negative impact on the environment,” says Deputy Director for Modernization Abdusalom Abdumanoniy.

According to him, an important result of the introduction of this technology is also the possibility of obtaining additional economic benefits from the use of additional processed products.

“Since the design capacity of the plant is designed to process about 3 thousand cubic meters of oil sludge per month, the device will allow processing oil sludge generated not only at the Fergana Oil Refinery Plant, but also at other industrial enterprises of the republic,” adds Abdusalom Abdumanoniy.
