Fergana Oil Refinery Plant modernized by 33%

The project for the modernization of the existing plant was launched in 2020, during the period when the enterprise was in trust management of Saneg. Thanks to the modernization, by 2024 the plant will expand its product line and improve the quality of its products.

In the future, the Fergana Oil Refinery Plant (FORP) will become the first and only enterprise producing Euro 5 class motor gasolines and lubricating oils of group II + / III according to API in Uzbekistan.

An important aspect of the project is the reduction of irretrievable losses of hydrocarbons and the renewal of the plant's tank farm. Currently, 12 out of 36 new modern tanks of various sizes are being installed. For metrological calculations, production control, inventory of tanks and filling without the risk of overfilling, the TankRadar Rex measuring system from the Swiss company Endress+Hauser is used.

Designing and building its own steam boiler house with a chemical water treatment plant to meet the production needs of new and existing technological steam installations.

Construction of the main units has begun, due to which new types of products will be mastered, this is a hydrocracking unit, a hydrogen production unit and a pressure swing adsorption unit.An industrial plant for the processing of oil sludge was put into operation, which makes it possible to utilize oil waste and return it to production.

In addition, for the production of various grades of gasoline, a modern hydrotreating catalyst from the French company Axens was purchased and loaded into the reactors of the catalytic reforming unit.

In total, to date, more than $249.6 million in external investments and own funds have been attracted to implement the modernization project.

“The project provides for an increase in the volume of loading of the production capacities of the FORP up to 2 million tons per year. The enterprise will be supplied with both local raw materials extracted from the Saneg fields and imported ones, - said Abdusalom Abdumanoniy, Deputy Director for Modernization and Prospective Development. “Thousands of workers and hundreds of special equipment are currently involved in the project. Work is being carried out in a phased and efficient manner. The construction of an isomerization unit will soon begin which will increase the yield of motor gasolines from refined oil with a high octane number.”
